Working Principle of Spiral Chute
Gravity separators have been used in coal industry for several decades. Generally, the technologies of separation can be divided into four kinds: dense-media separation, bed separation, mobile-layer separation, and centrifugal separation. The technology adopted by spiral concentrator is the combination of bed separation, mobile-layer separation and centrifugal separation.
Spiral chute applies to sorting size 0.3-0.02mm fine materials of coal, however, in many cases; this range can be expanded into 3-0.074mms. When the sorting coefficient ranges from 1.70 to 2.00, the EP number is 0.10-0.15. To research the coal wash-ability, operators need to expand test for fine granularity. The aim of test is to make an exact prediction on the separation efficiency of coal, which is just like the evaluation on the floatability. The granularity size for the test should be divided into five grades, which are 3-1.68mm, 1.68-1.00mm, 1.00-0.59mm, 0.59-0.15mm, and 0.15-0.074mm respectively. The ratio of these float-and-sink tests is 1.3~ 2.2, and the disparity ratio is o.10.
Operation of Spiral Chute
The main parts of a spiral concentrator include feeder, frame, Spiral Chute and output chute etc. Spiral concentrator is fixed by a piece of timber or hob in place. The mineral sand is sent by pump to the two material entrances at the top of spiral. And then operators add enough water and accommodate the density of mash, which flows from the top to the bottom naturally. A centrifugal force of inertia was produced on the slope in the velocity of rotation.
According to the different proportions, granularities, shapes of the mineral sand, mineral sand will be divided by the effect of gravity and centrifugal force. Concentrated ore flow into ore bucket.
